Transition Relief Extended through 2019

Transition Relief Extended through 2019

Once again CMS and HHS will allow small employers and individual health plans another year extension of transitional (grand-mothered) coverage.  Transitional relief allows employers to continue to use their health plans that don't meet requirements of the Affordable Care Act.  If employers switch carriers or switch to a community rated plan, their transitional relief ends and they can no longer use their previous plan.

The new CMS extension allows transitional relief to extend through the 2019 calendar year. Each year employers are faced with the decision of absorbing increasing premiums compared to options that move them away from transitional plans. Business Benefits offers many solutions. Please contact us to discuss potential options for you outside of transitional relief or community rated plans including:  PEO, Level Funded or Association health plan options.
